A Step into 21st Century

Last Friday I started a training program on 21st century skills and the very first lesson was mostly a wonderful discussion. Beginning with a presentation on critical thinking, we discussed different questions such as “What is critical thinking?”, “Who is a critical thinker?”, What type of qualities differentiate a strong and weak critical thinker from each other?”. After discussing all these questions some of us stated that their perspective on critical thinking had changed accordingly. Then, we participated in some kind of a game about understanding a critical thinker’s mind and we chose the possible statements which a critical thinker might make in some situations. It was fun!

In the second part of our training session, our teachers Melda Yılmaz and Dilek İnal trained us about English’s being a global language. Throughout our lesson, we discussed different criteria that make English a global language. I personally think that English is a global language because of the power English speaking countries have and the need of connecting with one another as a world.

In a nutshell, our first lessons was a success as a beginning and I hope that as qualified students we can make much deeper discussions together. This way a better experience can take place.

See you next week!

MORE WAYS TO IMPROVE

Hi everyone! I'm happy to say that I have a super cool way of learning to talk about. Okay... It may not be super cool but it is super accessible and free. Have you ever heard about Udemy, Coursera, or edX? They're all online websites that enable you to take courses from all around the world. You don't have to go anywhere, just sit and learn. In addition, all these websites have free options, this means that you cannot say I don't have enough money. All you need is a computer or a smart device, internet and PASSION! I have taken a course and been taking another. Both of my courses are about psychology because I have a passion for this area. Here is my first certificate on increasing one's influence.  I challenge you to complete one of the courses that draw your attention and post it to me, or you could just enjoy learning something. See you later!

Duolingo & Memrise | Have Fun!

Hi everyone! I know that vocabulary learning is a big thing most of the people because with traditional techniques it’s so boring. However, technology brings its benefits with itself and gives us different opportunities to learn languages. Today, want to talk about two different application I found very useful. Firstly, I’m gonna talk about Duolingo. It’s an application within which you can find different languages to learn. If you ask why Duolingo, I would say that it’s not boring and old school. Today, we don’t like anything that brings the need of vomiting, also anything that is boring won’t help you to learn something because your motivation will be much lower each day. In a nutshell, please try it and inform me on your thoughts. Click Here to reach Duolingo. Secondly, Memrise would be a good choice to work on. Memrise simply the same thing with Duolingo but there is one thing that made my mind blown. That thing is the camera detection system of Memrise. You can hold your p...

CREATE YOUR CANVA!

Hi everyone! Have you ever heard about Canva? It is an application that helps you with pre-made drafts of different kinds of cards. You can use these cards in order to fulfill different purposes but today I want to mention its use in education. Canva can be used in education while studying special days and holidays of a country, creating brochures, or you can give your students reading lists and they create a summary of a book by using different photos and they can present their cards in class. You can see an example of mine above. I have created a Canva in the name of a Turkish Holiday. Click Here to Go Canva!
