I FEEL ENGLIGHTENED! | 2ND WEEK OF 21ST CENTURY SKILLS TRAINING

Hello friends! It’s been a week and half since the last post of mine. There has been quite busyness in my life but there is one thing that I enjoy in all busyness which is 21st Skills Training Course. In the 2nd week of this training, we have touched into two main topics which are collaboration skills and English as a global phenomena.

In the first section of the class, we have focused on collaboration skills. At the beginning of the session, our teacher Melda Yılmaz introduced us to Linoit which is a website that allows you to create boards with sticky papers. In our session we used it to create stories. As groups, we were given certain words to chose from, then with my friends created a story using those words. At the end, we shared them as sticky notes, on our class board, with class mates. Secondly, in the same session, we were given a murder puzzle, again in groups. In breakout rooms, we started to discuss about the murder mystery. One by one, figuring the timing and the placement of the suspects, we found the murderer. Then, we found out that we were the first group that solved the puzzle. We were surprised and happy at the same time. Finally, in the first session, Melda hoca asked us about the way that we followed in order to solve the murder puzzle.

In the second session of the class, we focused on the global place of English around the world. In class and groups, we discussed whether being a native or non-native teacher is important or not, what is English’s and language teachers’ place on the global perspective. The whole discussion was enlightening for me. I feel thankful to the teachers and all of my friends that participate in this training.

In a nutshell, the focus of 2nd week of 21st Century Skills was on collaboration and global perspective. It brought us a look into a broader perspective. Personally, I think that these information and skills will help us a lot in our future work.

I hope you enjoyed today’s post and see you next week!

TRUST ME YOU WILL BE DELIGHTED IN NEXT WEEKS WORK!

With Seesaw, you can easily follow your students' performance and progression. So as to give an example, I created a 2nd-grade activity.
